Brewery Tour

Champaign County has a diverse culture and community so it’s only natural that it has a vibrant local craft brewery scene. There are seven breweries in Champaign County with DESTIHL, The Blind Pig Brewery and 25 O'Clock Brewing Company in downtown Champaign and Urbana, Riggs Beer Company right on the outskirts of Urbana, and JT Walkers, Monarch Brewing Company, and Triptych Brewing in neighboring towns. Each brewery has their own style of brewing, aesthetic and atmosphere that offer unique experiences and flavors.

Brewing is a creative process that incorporates chemistry and cooking. Champaign County breweries aren’t just sticking to traditional beer styles or flavors - they experiment to combine unique ingredients to create delicious and one of a kind beers! If you’re looking for a more traditional style beer, try Rigg’s American Lager, or if you’re looking for something a bit more out of the box try J.T. Walker’s s’mores stout with doughnuts called All My Best Friends are Mallowheads. No matter what beer you are looking for, Champaign County brewers have it!

Each brewery expressed how collaborative and supportive the other breweries are. They often consult with one another on creating and developing a new beer, as well as highlighting one another’s beers in their own brewery, and collaborating on events and outreach. There is a unique sense of comradery between all the breweries which highlights the creative and inviting community of Champaign County. The stories that follow tell the history of each brewery and their special connection to their community.
